Omschrijving
Originally all forms of cutwork came under the heading of Punto Tagliato and drawn thread techniques were known as Punto Tirato. Often these techniques were intermingled with surface stitchery but all were characterised by an openwork effect.
Gradually the background material became less obvious, finally to give way to today's needlepoint laces. Here Nenia Lovesey, probably Europe's best-known and most respected needlepoint teacher, traces this complex evolution of styles, analysing each in turn and giving examples of finished pieces. Beginning with the simplest forms and working through to the beautiful and complex items that are produced today, she supports her text with numerous diagrams, patterns and photographs to provide a wealth of knowledge and design inspiration.

Nenia Lovesey, President of the Needlelace Guild and a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen, was for many years a tutor at the Royal School of Needlework and the English Lace School. She also lectured for the Embroiderers's Guild and the Lace Guild and is an experienced writer on needlepoint lace.
