Idrija is a mining town in the west of Slovenia. All the different kinds of lace which are worked in Idrija are known there as Idrija Lace. Internationally however, the term Idrija lace is used to describe a tape lace that is found in two different variations: either with a 'wide tape' (as in the Russian tape lace) or with a 'narrow tape'. The patterns in this book are all made with a narrow tape.
